What a busy week we just had! Deliveries of new stock every day (stocking up for Christmas), which was lovely - it's always fun to take a look (and play) with new toys when they arrive. Mind you, it's like having a workout at the gym lifting and dragging lots of heavy boxes and then transferring their contents to a suitable location (which invariably is on one of the higher shelves in the shop or storeroom).
Tony has been busy updating our software too - this has been an ongoing project over the past few months, and you may already have noticed new features such as Economy Delivery for some smaller items, and the capability to write reviews of the toys or share them via Twitter or Facebook. Online sale of Gift Vouchers will follow shortly.
Interesting article on the BBC Website "Warm weather 'knocks High Street sales'" with clothes retailers well down due to the hot weather. Fortunately, our sales figures were nicely up compared with September last year, but the month ended disappointingly. As soon as the hot weather kicks in you get plently of browsers in the shop out enjoying the weather, but no-one seems to want to make any big decisions. We also notice how a change in the weather affects sales. It doesn't matter whether it changes from good to bad or from bad to good, no one seems to want to go shopping when the weather changes.
Another busy week beckons - more deliveries are due today, and, away from the shop, we are looking forward to going up to London to see Alex in the last performance of the show that he and his friends took to the Edinburgh Festival (apparently they are in The Independent's Top 5 Comedy Shows to see this week!).
